A Telescope for the Beginners
For quite a few years I have grown interest in watching celestial objects. So I needed a telescope of my own. I searched for one on Amazon and after reading a few reviews I baught one of my budget. I did not have much expectation from a low cost telescope. Still I waited eagerly. But I was somewhat surprised to use the telescope for the first time.
Performance of Celestron Power Seeker 50 AZ
Let me make it clear that Celestron Power Seeker 50 AZ is a telescope for the beginners and not for professional use. Students and common people having interest in watching the night sky will be more than happy to use this telescope. Maximum magnification of the telescope is 150X with the smallest eye peice of 4 mm. The biggest eye peice of 20 mm will deliver 30X magnification. 30X magnification is recommended for watching moon and other celestial objects in this telescope. If you want more magnification, your in mage may become very unstable and focusing will be tough. The tripod given with this telescope is not so good. Focusing an object sometimes becomes tough.
To buy or not to buy
You can buy this if you are only a beginner and you have budget issues. I am using this telescope for more than 5 years now and I am somewhat satisfied. I have checked it with an expert and he also said that this telescope is absolutely OK in this price range.
But if you have a bigger budget, you should not buy this. Then you should buy the Power Seeker 70AZ. This is a far better alternative with very good view and a stable tripod.
